Coaching can mean different things to different people. This page explains how we understand and practice coaching at Next Flow Strategies.
Minoritized people regularly deal with challenges created by living in a system that wasn't built to welcome them. We are not broken. But it is up to us to find ways to function, resist, and yes — find joy — within that system. And we don't do this alone. We do it as part of a community.
This is where coaching comes in.
Coaching helps you stay grounded in who you are — or who you want to be — while connecting you to community and helping you find your own flow within the systems you cross every day.
How does the Process Work?
Our Approach to Coaching
We won't hand you ready-made answers or formulas. Our role is to ask the tough questions that help you develop a mindset that's aware of systemic pressures, without losing room for joy and stillness along the way.
Your role is to show up and do the work. Growth happens when you commit to your own intentional change.
What Coaching Is NOT
Coaching is distinct from other forms of support. To be clear:
-
Coaching does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions. If such needs arise, we may recommend that you seek appropriate professional support.
-
We are not your boss, evaluator, or teacher. You will not be judged or penalized for how you engage between sessions. Your growth is connected to the commitment you bring to the process.
-
Coaching is a professional partnership built on mutual respect, boundaries, and accountability. Whether you are paying full price, receiving a scholarship, or engaging pro bono, our work together is guided by the same coaching agreement and professional standards.
-
We will not provide prescriptive solutions or tell you what to do. Instead, I will support you in generating your own insights, strategies, and pathways forward. We believe you are capable of leading your flow toward intentional change.
